Clap Your Hands, Say YEASAYER: new stuff, tour, Moby remix

Been keeping my eyes on those Brooklyn boys, Yeasayer, recently.

Tweets have alluded to them working hard on new songs before they head out on a Canada/US tour (which brings them my way on May 28, happy day-before-my-birthday, hoo-ha!), and this leg promises four new tracks mixed into the live set. One of them will be “The Devil and the Deed”, which the band debuted on Conan last night. Anand Wilder takes over leads from Chris Keating, and the track is a serious ass-shaker, with lots of synth shots and electro claps. I officially dig. Which is saying something on first listen…

Yeasayer also found time, about 10 or so days ago, to chop out a remix of Moby’s “The Day”, upon which they lend some of the similar good vibes we’re hearing in their new track “Devil”. I’ve been bored of Moby for a while, but this perks things up a bit, no? Have an earball:

I’m also looking forward to seeing the band towards the start of its tour this time, when they’re hungry, and still testing things out and haven’t got glossy eyes and road-pallor skin. And is that a BackstageRider pink new shirt they’re working on for the tour?

Let me know what you think of the new track in the comments below. And hope to see you out on the tour! Full dates at Myspace.com/Yeasayer. \m/

  1. I like the Moby remix better. Leave it to the DJs (though Moby isn’t a DJ) to take a band with decent music and turn it into incredible music. Must be so hard to be a band these days since it is almost impossible to sound different from the past.
