Usually I can peg folks, but Twin Shadow has me beat. The Dominican Morrissey? Synthsoul? Grizzly Bear with a Moog? The entire soundtrack to a film like “Less Than Zero”? Blade Runner? Miami Vice? Ambient? Pop? Chillwave? Nah, It’s DEFINITELY New Wave. Right?

Gah, I have no idea. Whatever. It’s totally 80s and it’s modern and isn’t it wonderful?

The stylish George Lewis Jr was in town last week (on tour with another amazing one-person nom de plume, Diamond Rings), and besides bringing his band to the local sushi joint (where we ran into ’em), he brought a shit-hot custom Rickenbacker guitar, lots of compliments for Vancouver (calling us “sexy” and sounding pretty genuine about it) and heaps of lushness.
