Steve Malkmus from Pavement’s a vampire, right? That’s why he doesn’t age? Alas, my attempt at draining his blood when he played Vancouver’s Biltmore Cabaret on October 12, with his trio, The Jicks, didn’t quite work out…but, whatever, it was a fun night anyway. Between drinking with Bob Nastanovich and talking hockey with Steve Malkmus, old interviews with Scott Kannberg, customs with Steve West and family with Mark Ibold, the Backstage Rider actually manages to catch reunited indie slackers Pavement play a two-hour set. In the spirit of rock n’ roll randomness and the fact that their reunion dates are (praise all gods) upon us, the BackstageRider pins down Pavement’s Bob Nastanovich to talk about his 7-inches. Get your mind out of the gutter..and remember, our lists go right to 11.
