Was big news in small circles last week when Scottish quietloudquietloud indie masters Mogwai announced that its new album would be released on Valentine’s Day next year in the UK, and a day later in the YouEss.
The title is even better news: it’s going to be called Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will. The BackstageRider plans on purchasing about 20 copies of this album for the title alone.
Also awesome news: Paul Savage, who helmed the genius Mogwai Young Team album, has produced it. This is, quite frankly, brilliant. And if you are obsessed/geeky enough to follow www.twitter.com/mogwaieat, you’ll know all the great secret foods that fuelled the recording of this album and powered them through hangovers. Any band energized by fancy Goan curries and take away ciabatta sarnies is bound to make delicious music (*boom crash*).
But the best news of all is that you can get tickets for gigs on their North American tour next spring right NOW.
Where? Right here: Mogwai North American Ticket Pre-Sale
And once you’ve purchased tickets and industrial-strength ear plugs (for Mogwai’s awesome is SO loud live that you will need to shield yourself), be sure to check out how the band chooses its song titles, and what Stuart Braitwaite’s favourite sounds are, here in this exclusive Backstagerider interview. Also find out about Stuart’s involvement in the Alan Moore project, Unearthing.
That is all. You may now return to your day.\m/
